Zulu 8.4 with Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite Support Now Available for Download

Oct 31, 2014 | 2 MIN READ

As you make plans for the Java 7 end-of-life in April of next year, take a look at Azul Zulu as your new Java 8 JVM or as a fully supported bridge to stay on Java 7 while you handle other business priorities.  Zulu is a 100% open source distribution of Java SE 8, 7 or 6 OpenJDK™ for multiple platforms: Mac OS X, Linux, Windows, the cloud, Docker and more.

The new features in 8.4 include Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite support, just two weeks after the public release.  If you’re on an older version of Zulu it works OK with Yosemite, too, but this version has our full testing behind it. For Mac we offer both DMG and ZIP packages.

Also of note in 8.4 is some new Linux distribution support. DEB packaging, Apt-Get repository distribution and Docker are all available for Debian Jessie and Wheezy (7.x) releases on Intel x86-64. Debian forms the basis for a lot of Docker containers, and with this release we have added a full set of Zulu Docker container choices for Debian and CentOS to the containers we created for Ubuntu.

Zulu 8.4 follows the OpenJDK release cycle closely, and this version incorporates all October 2014 security updates.

This new version is available for download on our website, and it’s free to use.  If you have a minute or two, please fill out our Java 7 EoL survey. We’ll share the results here in a few weeks.
