Senior Customer Support Engineer EMEA
Europe/Africa/Middle East time zones, remote work is possible
Overview
Provide support for Azul’s Zing JVM and Zulu JVM products
Answer questions about product features and behavior
Research OpenJDK bugfixes and backports
Advise customers on JVM, application, and OS configuration, monitoring, and measurement
Analyze and resolve a wide variety of issues, including:
application crashes
application and system performance issues, both throughput and latency
garbage collection
thread dump analysis and heap dump analysis
first-pass crash dump analysis
Other responsibilities
Coordinate with Azul Software Engineering to define and resolve bugs and enhancements
Maintain internal wikis and external knowledge base and user forums
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information systems, Mathematics, or related subject
Three years of experience application support or application development, especially Java.
Proficient with Linux shell, Windows and macOS
Strong computer science background
Must be thorough, resourceful, willing to learn, and able to think and act independently
Strong problem-solving skills, ability to synthesize information from multiple sources
Proficient written and spoken English
Desirable, But Not Required:
Experience supporting, configuring and tuning Java VMs
Strong Linux background, including monitoring and tuning Linux, and writing shell scripts
Experience with Java and Linux crash analysis
High-level language experience, especially in Java or Python but any language is good
Application development experience, especially Java, but any stack will do
Web development experience, any stack
Experience with any of: Apache, Tomcat, JBoss, WebLogic, WebSphere, Glassfish
Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking
Good working knowledge of operating systems
