Customer Support Engineer EMEA

Europe/Africa/Middle East time zone preferred

Overview

  • Provide first and second-level support for Azul Systems Zing and Zulu JVM products.
  • First level support responsibilities include:
    • Onboarding customers
    • Answering questions and solving simple issues
  • Second level support responsibilities include:
    • perform in-depth analysis and develop resolution strategies for issues such as:
      • application crashes
      • application performance, including both throughput and latency issues
      • GC log analysis
      • heap dump analysis
      • first pass crash dump analysis
    • application and server performance optimization
    • JVM and OS configuration, monitoring and measurement
  • Other responsibilities
    • Coordinate with Azul Software Engineering to define and resolve bugs and enhancements
    • Maintain internal wikis and external knowledge base and user forums


Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information systems, Mathematics, or related subject
  • Three years of experience application support or application development, especially Java app support and development
  • Strong Linux background, including monitoring and tuning Linux and writing shell scripts
  • High-level language experience, including Java, C/C++, Javascript, Python, etc.
  • Web design and development experience, including HTML, CSS, jQuery, etc.
  • Experience with any of Apache, Tomcat, JBoss, WebLogic, WebSphere, Glassfish, Spring
  • Working knowledge of TCP/IP networking
  • Experience with Java and Linux crash analysis
  • Windows and macOS experience
  • Good written and spoken English is required
