Understanding Garbage Collection
Azul Product Manager Matt Schuetze delivers a presentation on JVM memory details to the Washington DC/Northern Virginia Java User Group (“DCJUG”).

Garbage Collection is an integral part of application behavior on Java platforms, yet it is often misunderstood. As such, it is important for Java developers to understand the actions you can take in selecting and tuning collector mechanisms, as well as in your application architecture choices.

The live presentation on Tuesday, April 29 involved around 75 members of the DCJUG. A lively Q&A session followed, focused not only on GC questions, but moved into Java warmup and how to cope with the JVM’s multi-tiered JIT compilation scheme. The live session was recorded and a Vimeo link will be added when available.
