At this year’s JPoint – www.javapoint.ru – on the 5 April at the PetroCongress in St Petersburg, Anya Barski, Vice President of Engineering at Azul Systems, will be delivering a keynote address on the ‘Java Life Story’, a reflection of her experiences over the last fifteen years on how Java has grown and evolved into a leading technology across the world and in Russia. Formerly the founder and head of the Sun Microsystems St. Petersburg Development Center, Anya will share her observations and views on the past, present, and future of Java as a platform and language.
At Azul Systems, Anya is responsible for the development, delivery and customer support for all products including Zing, Azul’s groundbreaking high-performance JVM. During her 20 years of technical, engineering, and operational leadership experience, Anya has held a variety of roles at global corporations and Silicon Valley startups. Anya came to Azul from Advenira Enterprises, a breakthrough thin film technology company where she was the Chief Operating Officer. Before that, she was the CEO of Yandex Labs and VP of Engineering at Yandex, the largest Russian Internet and search engine company. Prior to joining Yandex, Anya worked for Sun Microsystems for 11 years in a variety of leadership roles building and running strong multifunctional multinational software engineering organizations delivering Sun Java and developer products.
