Azul's Zing™ Elastic Software Platform Selected as Innovative, Impactful and Intriguing
April 27, 2011
Mountain View, CA, April 27, 2011 – Azul Systems, the award-winning leader in scalable, reliable platforms for business-critical Java™ applications, today announced it has been included in the list of 2011 “Cool Vendors” by Gartner, Inc. The full report published on April 19, 2011 by Massimo Pezzini et al, titled “Cool Vendors in Application and Integration Platforms, 2011”, identifies 5 vendors this year, making this a highly selective list of innovators.
Azul’s Zing Elastic Software Platform offers a number of unique capabilities not found in any other Java runtimes (JVMs). Zing offers the industry’s only pauseless garbage collector, which continuously cleans and defragments the heap while applications are running, providing superior application consistency and predictability while completely eliminating “stop-the-world” pauses that can cause a poor end-user experience as well as lost revenues. Zing’s elastic memory capability allows memory to be dynamically allocated and shared between multiple Java instances based on real-time demands and varying load. As stated in the Gartner report, these capabilities work around limitations of traditional JVMs, including static memory allocation, small memory heaps, unpredictable and lengthy pauses, and the proliferation of JVMs used to solve the tradeoff between needing more memory and garbage collection pause times.
“We are proud to have been selected as a ‘Cool Vendor’ by Gartner,” said Scott Sellers, President, CEO and Co-founder, Azul Systems. “Our unique and mature technology has been proven over our 9-year history providing business-critical Java solutions for enterprises worldwide, and we believe being selected by Gartner further confirms the strong adoption we are seeing for our products. This is a wonderful testament to the hard work and passion demonstrated by the world-class Azul team.”
About Gartner’s Cool Vendors Selection Process
Gartner’s listing does not constitute an exhaustive list of vendors in any given technology area, but rather is designed to highlight interesting, new and innovative vendors, products and services. Gartner defines a cool vendor as a company that offers technologies or solutions that are: Innovative, enable users to do things they couldn’t do before; Impactful, have, or will have, business impact (not just technology for the sake of technology); Intriguing, have caught Gartner’s interest or curiosity in approximately the past six months.
