Recognized for Leadership in Emerging Technology
July 17, 2006
Mountain View, Calif. – July 17, 2006 – Azul Systems today announced that it has been chosen by AlwaysOn as one of the Top 100 Private Company award winners. Azul Systems was handpicked by the AlwaysOn editorial panel based on a set of five criteria – technology innovation, market potential, customer adoption, media buzz and investor value creation.
Azul Systems and the rest of the AO100 will be honored as part of the AO2006: Stanford Summit, July 25-27, at the Frances C. Arrillaga Alumni Center on the Stanford University campus in Palo Alto, California. It will bring together successful entrepreneurs, business and political thought leaders, and top venture capitalists to spot trends and spark new ideas and initiatives.
The AO100 was selected from over 1,000 companies, peer-nominated by leading venture capitalists, investment bankers and industry analysts. The AO100 consists of private companies at all stages of development, from early to late stage.
At the heart of Azul’s emerging technology is the growing demand for new computing models that support the transaction-intensive nature of business applications and services. More importantly, there is an increased need to deliver increased capabilities, capacity and utilization at a fraction of the cost of traditional computing models. Azul pioneered network attached processing to address that need. It provides massive amounts of compute capacity and memory as a shared network service, similar to the manner in which network attached storage provides shared storage capacity to datacenters and enables more predictable service levels, higher reliability, reduced power and energy costs all while dramatically lowering management cost and complexity.
“The AO100 companies are driving the next wave of innovative technologies that are disrupting the old guard and shaping the new media landscape,” said Tony Perkins, founder of AlwaysOn. “As ever, we were inundated with nominations from leading companies, and it’s heartening to know that tomorrow’s thought leaders and technology visionaries are already out there. My congratulations to each AO100 winner – these are the companies which we predict will have the greatest market traction, strongest innovation and most game-changing approaches this year.”
“We’re building a 21st century systems company, one that follows rapid development cycles and delivers a new class of computing solution matched the to the requirements of the most sophisticated enterprises,” said Stephen DeWitt, Azul Systems President and Chief Executive Officer. “No other existing compute platform in the industry comes close to this kind of breakthrough innovation.”
