Here's what you need to know to run Zing

Zing is a complete JDK for Java SE 11, 8, 7. The Zing JDK is simple to install and requires no coding change to existing applications. Zing runs on Linux-based x86-64 platforms. 

To check your system’s Java settings for compatibility with Zing, contact an Azul technical specialist or download the optional Azul Inspector tool.

System Requirements

Hardware Processors

  • Intel® Xeon® server-class processors released since 2009

  • AMD EPYC™ and Opteron™ server-class processors released since 2010

Memory and Cores

  • Minimum
    • 512 MB (-Xmx512M) or greater
    • 2 or more cores

Zing Supported Platforms

  • x86: 64 bit Linux
    • RHEL/CentOS 7.3 or later
    • Ubuntu 16.04 LTS or later
    • Debian 9 or later
    • Amazon Linux 1, 2

NOTE: if you want to run Zing on older or another operating system, you need to install the Zing ZST component in addition to the JVM.

Hardware and Virtualized Platform Requirements

Zing runs on any of the following hardware or virtualized platforms:

  • x86-64 hardware

  • x86-64 virtual machines configured with Intel VT-x or AMD-V (e.g., Amazon EC2 (HVM), Azure, Oracle Virtual Box, Google Compute Engine, VMware)

  • x86-64 container-based systems (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)

JDK Version

  • Java SE 11, 8, 7
  • Feature previews for selected non-LTS versions of Zing are also available.
