The State of Java Survey and Report provides insights and sentiments from more than 2,000 businesses globally around Java’s impact on enterprises large and small. This report reveals that:

  • Java adoption remains strong with an overwhelming 98% of respondents to our survey indicating they use Java in their software applications or infrastructure.
  • Oracle’s Java market share is waning, with more than 7 out of 10 respondents considering non-Oracle Java alternatives (primarily due to Oracle’s most recent pricing policy). 
  • Java is playing a critical role in the cloud, with organizations indicating they use high-performance Java implementations to help optimize their cloud spend. 
  • A high percentage of businesses (80%) were affected by Log4shell, emphasizing the ongoing threat of security vulnerabilities in Java applications.
