Azul Systems® Names Patrick J. Conte Senior Vice President of Worldwide Field Operations

Mountain View, Calif. – November 5, 2009 –Azul Systems, the award-winning leader of enterprise server appliances for business critical Java™ applications, today announced the appointment of Patrick J. Conte as Senior Vice President of Worldwide Field Operations. With more than 25 years of experience in successfully scaling companies from pre-revenue through Initial Public Offerings and acquisitions, Pat will now lead the worldwide field organization for Azul Systems.

“We are thrilled to have Pat join our executive team,” said Scott Sellers, President and CEO for Azul Systems. “Pat has a stellar track record in sales execution and growth strategies, working closely with direct sales teams while leveraging channel resellers and strategic partners. We look forward to his leadership in scaling our sales to new levels.”

“I am very excited to be part of the Azul team,” said Patrick Conte, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Field Operations for Azul Systems. “I’ve always been impressed with Azul’s world class technology and it’s obvious why so many organizations such as British Telecom, CitiStreet/ING, Groupe Mutuel, and most recently, Saks Fifth Avenue, are running their business-critical Java applications on Azul. I look forward to delivering Azul’s unique solution to many more customers, helping them solve the challenges of Java application scalability, response times, and performance bottlenecks.”

Pat joins Azul from Agiliance, an enterprise software company focused on IT governance, risk, and compliance (IT GRC) solutions, where he served as President and CEO responsible for all operations of the company, leading the company’s launch into the market place and early revenue growth.

Previously, Pat ran global field operations at TopSpin Communications, the leading InfiniBand based fabric computing company.  At TopSpin, Pat drove aggressive revenue growth through customers, partners and major system OEMs including Sun, IBM, HP, Dell, NEC, and Hitachi.  Pat’s efforts led to TopSpin’s acquisition by Cisco in 2005.  Prior to TopSpin, Pat was VP of Sales and Marketing at Cobalt Networks, a key member of the executive management team that led Cobalt’s IPO in 1999, and helped drive its success culminating in a $2B acquisition by Sun in 2000.  Pat has also held VP, Executive VP and General Manager roles at Teneros (high availability email appliances), Netscaler (network traffic management and security products, acquired by Citrix), Dynamic Pictures (3D graphics systems, acquired by 3DLabs) and Wyse Technology (displays and thin clients).
