Azul Systems® Achieves Record Sales Results in Second Quarter

Mountain View, CA, August 11, 2010 — Azul Systems, the award-winning leader in scalable, reliable platforms for business-critical Java™ applications, today announced record second quarter revenue for its fiscal year 2011 ending July 31, 2010, with the highest recognized revenue in the history of the company and up 32% over the prior quarter. Azul continues to win business with Global 2000 companies, and its global partner ecosystem is growing rapidly, with Agap2 (Portugal), MigTower (Mexico), Mechsoft (Turkey), Technoserv A/S (Russia) and Yannitech (South Africa) expanding availability of Azul’s leading-edge products to customers around the world. Azul products are now available in more than 26 countries worldwide, including more than half the countries in Eastern Europe.

During the second quarter, Azul announced its new Zing™ Platform, the industry’s first software-only elastic runtime platform for Java applications. Offering consistently fast response times regardless of load, and optimized specifically for Cloud and virtualized environments, the Zing Platform shatters Java scalabilitybarriers and enables existing Java applications to smoothly and reliably scale to dozens of CPU cores and hundreds of gigabytes of memory. Zing is currently available under a limited trial program, and will be generally available in Fall 2010.

Azul also announced the Managed Runtime Initiative. The Initiative is an effort to identify, develop, and deliver enhanced interfaces and functionality across vertical components of the systems stack in order to improve the execution of managed runtimes, such as Java, Ruby, and .NET. Azul contributed an open source reference implementation based on enhancements to OpenJDK and the Linux operating system that dramatically improves scalability and performance of Java applications.

“Our record results, growing customer base, and expanding global reach all validate our unique technology advantage and value proposition,” said Scott Sellers, President and CEO of Azul Systems. “Enterprises increasingly rely on our products to address the challenges of Java deployments, and we expect Zing and our open source contributions will further accelerate our momentum within the Java community.”

Also during the second quarter, Red Hat® announced that Nationwide® Mutual Insurance won the JBoss®Innovation Award for the Partner Ecosystem, based on outstanding technical achievements that show creative thinking and problem solving. Using a joint solution from Azul Systems and JBoss, Nationwide was able to improve availability and reduce infrastructure costs for its business-critical quoting application, including 25% faster and more consistent application response times for an outstanding user experience.
