Certification Brings Massive Transaction Processing Prowess to Mutual Customers
June 29, 2006
Mountain View, Calif. – 29 June, 2006 – Azul Systems, Inc., the pioneer of the industry’s first network attached processing solution, today announced that Oracle has certified the Azul Compute Appliance, running the Azul Virtual Machine as a supported platform, with Oracle® Application Server 10g, a component of Oracle Fusion Middleware. The certification provides enhanced scalability to applications and added confidence to mutual customers running Oracle Application Server 10g on the Azul platform.
Oracle Application Server 10g, the foundation for developing, integrating, and deploying enterprise applications, portals, and Web Services, is the only platform designed for grid computing as well as full lifecycle support for service-oriented architectures (SOA). Network attached processing from Azul is made possible via Azul Compute Appliances, which contain up to sixteen 24-core 64-bit Vega processors and up to 256GB of memory that create massive pools of compute power shared dynamically across multiple applications. Azul allows customers to scale their infrastructures more reliably and predictably, while reducing the number of servers needed to support their growing workloads. The use of Oracle Application Server 10g and network attached processing helps enhance performance, adaptability, and ROI while creating a scalable infrastructure for running today’s most sophisticated Java-based applications.
“Oracle Application Server 10g is a key element of our middleware product family and is at the heart of our SOA offering,” said Steven G. Harris, vice president, Java Platform Group at Oracle. “The ability of the Azul network attached processing solution to deliver scalability, simpler infrastructure administration, and lower costs can help our mutual customers reduce time to large scale grid deployments.”
Initial certification was completed for applications deployed on the AIX platform. Certification is expected to be issued for Solaris, Linux and HP-UX deployments later this year.
“The combination of network attached processing from Azul and Oracle Application Server 10g provides the industry with a clear path to leverage grid infrastructures for large scale transaction processing applications,” said Jeff Cesari, vice president corporate development at Azul Systems. “This certification demonstrates Oracle’s leadership in helping to deliver higher performance with greater overall ROI to its customers- a win/win for all.”

About Azul Systems
Azul Systems, Inc. has pioneered the industry’s first network attached processing solution, designed to unbound compute resources for transaction-intensive applications and services, such as those based on the Java™ platform or Microsoft® .NET™ framework. Without application level modifications, binary compatibility requirements or operating system dependencies, this fundamentally new approach eliminates the need to capacity plan at the application level and dramatically lowers the cost and complexity associated with the traditional delivery of computing resources.
