Slough, Berkshire, UK – 3 April, 2006 – Azul Systems, Inc., the pioneer of the industry’s first network attached processing solution, today announced that BT has selected Azul Compute Appliances as a critical component of its network service delivery infrastructure. Azul will enable BT to deliver massive throughput and scalability to some of its most transaction-intensive applications and services, such as those based on the Java™ platform or Microsoft® .NET™ framework, drive out significant cost from existing infrastructure and form the foundation of a new class of on-demand services for current and future customers.
Network attached processing provides massive amounts of compute capacity and memory as a shared network service, similar to the manner in which network attached storage provides shared storage capacity to datacentres. BT’s selection of network attached processing is seen as key to transforming itself into a next generation, agile Information Communications Technology (ICT) provider that offers swift scalability, performance and manageability, all at a fraction of the cost of traditional server computing models.
